Our book on resource communities just came out. The book, written with Monica Gruezmacher, Lochner Marais and Xaquin Perez-Sindin, offers insight in the myriad ways the past leaves traces in such communities dependent on the extraction of natural resources, traces in the culture, the environment, in the way the past is remembered, the present is organized and the future imagined. We slowly build up a theoretical perspective explaining the fate of resource towns, richly illustrated with empirical examples, stories from across the world, and we close the book with an entirely practical method to enhance self-understanding and to help communities navigate the future.
